Getting Ready to Sell

If you plan on creating an online store, there are a few things you’ll need to consider:

  • What Payment Methods will You Accept
  • How Will you Collect Payments?
  • Obtaining an SSL (https:// for your site)

Payment Methods and Gateways

How you will collect payments from your website and customers is referred to as a Payment Gateway. The Most Commonly Accepted Payment methods are PayPal and Credit Card and Debit Cards. How you integrate these options into your site(s) will depend on what Software your site is built on. For example, if you’ve chosen to build your online Store with WooCommerce/WordPress, you can choose between a number of PayPal plugins and Payment Gateways. Most of these options are additional services that you must have a subscription to although there are a few free options.

Below are a few examples of Payment Gateway options you can choose from:

Obtaining an SSL for Your Website

One of the most important aspects and steps of getting your OnlineStore ready will be obtaining an SSL Certificate! GlowFrog Hosting makes this easy for you. There are two options to choose from. You can choose from the Free SSL Option or a Paid SSL option.

What is an SSL?

SSL stands for “secure sockets layer” and is a form of security for your website that handles sensitive information such as visitor’s personal information and credit card numbers. It creates a secure connection between the visitor’s web browser and the server ensuring the activity or information can not easily be intercepted and read by snoopers.

See the differences between the two options below:

FreeSSL Option

Installing and Activating your SSL – Switching Site to https://

Simply purchasing an SSL will not automatically switch your site over to https://. The SSL will need to be installed and extra steps will need to be completed for your site to display over https:// and display PadLock in the browser. GlowFrog Hosting is happy to install your SSL for you and help you switch your site over to https:// without errors.
